Exterior Features
Location. Location. Location ! This unique log house in Fulton County is less than 30 minutes north of downtown Atlanta...but feels like another world. Situated on 3 acres (adjoined by 60 acres of forest), the home perches atop a small mountain, overlooking two lakes, in a wildlife refuge; the City of Mountain Park. Granite quarried from the property fashions an undulating garden wall at the entry filled with various perennial and annual flowers flanked by japanese maples, magnolias and dogwoods. The pea gravel walkway leads to the modern 32 x 12 ft. 'floating' deck, inspired by the lakes below. Instead of pickets, steel cables were used affording a clear view from the deck to the yard and vice versa. The deck is festooned with tropical plants and flowers during the 8 warm weather months and features a 12 x 10'8 motorized awning. With views of the lakes, the yard showcases 5 individual flower gardens, 3 raised bed vegetable gardens, various seating areas and an 8 month a year croquet course. An east-west 'shotgun' view from the front door to the back door leads to the elevated screened porch or 'Tree house'...so named owing to it's location in the tree canopy.
