The Heart of Dixie is striving to help the south become a prime location for filming. Legislation is proposed to provide a 25% rebate for qualifying expenditures within the state, as well as exemption from sales, use and lodging.

Alabama has a grand background in literature and theater, and offers historic filming locations for scouts. One of the most biologically diverse areas of the country, Alabama has had major motion picture filming and is looking to attract more filming to expose to everyone the striking mountains, bayous and beaches the state encompasses.

Alabama is a great film location year-round because it rarely experiences inclement weather. From Huntsville in the north to Mobile near the gulf, the state has small cities and residential and commercial areas great for filming scenes of any kind.
