MARINA DEL RAY, Cali. - The California On Locations Awards recently held their 14th awards ceremony this weekend, the most prestigious award ceremony of its kind in the industry. The Master of Ceremonies was three time Emmy nominee and Everybody Loves Raymond star Fred Willard.

Often referred to as the COLA, the group salutes the hardest working location professionals and production companies that do work for filming on location in California. While there are so many studios and back lots in the state of California, filming in location is very prevalent – just as it is across the country.

The awards recognize movies, television, commercials and still photography, as well as City, County, State and Federal Public employees that work so hard to maintain the Entertainment Industry in California.

The panel of judges is comprised of business agents, locations managers, writers and producers who have years of experience in the film industry.

This years’ ceremony gave its feature film Location Professional of the Year award to both Doug Dresser for Fired Up and Gregory Alpert for Frost/Nixon. The same award in the Episodic Television category went to Paul Wilson for location expertise on the set of CBS’s CSI.

The Hertz Corporation commercials won over the judges for its on location work. David McKinney was selected as the Location Professional of the year for his work on these commercials.

Peter McClafferty was recognized as the Location Professional of the Year in still photography for his work in Harper’s Bazaar.

Eagle Eye, a D.J. Caruso film that made a large impact at the box office this fall, gave DreamWorks the award for Production Company/Location Team of the Year for a feature film. In the episodic television genre CBS’s NCSI tied with 20th Century Fox’s 24 for the same award.

The California On Location Awards is a testament to the strong state of the film industry in California and the dedication and hard work of not on the filming location professionals, as well as entertainment professionals who are dedicated to the use of real-life locations to enhance their projects.
