Although the Nutmeg state is not very big, its combination of rural areas and industrial cities creates a unique state for filming with easy access to small lakes and rolling mountains that have been beautified by human recreation.

The state also offers concrete economic incentives for filmmaking. Connecticut provides up to a 30% tax credit for expenditures on labor, services, and goods used for production within the state. Property used for filming is tax exempt as well.

They also adhere to the almost standard hotel tax exemption on occupancy over 30 days. Since these incentives were added in 2006, over 50 production companies have filmed in Connecticut and have spent about $400 million within the state.

The state of Connecticut is projecting that they will give back almost $30 million to production companies as a result of the agressive tax credit Connecticut offers.
